“This weekend was I would say more typical in the distribution of the style of calls but just more of them. For a long weekend in August having 20 calls in a weekend is still really busy.”

"This is what our community needs because we host very large numbers of visitors and we have very concerned residents about that visitor-resident interface," said Coun. Vi Sandford. "Alberta is showing up in [record] numbers and we need to do something more. I think a mandatory mask bylaw for indoor spaces is a very good step for our community." 

Blasting activities in Cougar Creek are set to begin as of Tuesday (Aug. 4)

Environment Canada issued a heat warning for the Bow Valley and Kananaskis Country.

“It was the biggest day in the saddle I’ve experienced. It was a day that was all about honouring Shim,” said Canmore resident Dylan Dalgas. “Considering what Shim is going through, I knew I could push myself because that’s what he would do.”

“I’ve lived here a long time and anecdotally it seems busier at Quarry Lake than it has ever been,” said Greg Burt, the Town of Canmore’s manager of enforcement services. “If the parking lot is full, that means Quarry Lake is at capacity.”

Beginning Friday (Aug. 1), U.S. travellers heading to Alaska through Canada will be required to hang a tag in their rear view mirror and are to avoid visiting national parks and tourism activities under new rules put from the Canada Border Services Agency

Parking lots and trailheads at one of the Bow Valley’s most popular areas will be closed between Aug. 10-11. The work is part of plans in 2021-22 to pave the parking lots, add washrooms and increase signage.
