The owner of a lot on the corner of MacDonald Place and Three Sisters Drive in Canmore would like to rezone the property from R1 to R2, which would allow a duplex to be built instead of a single detached dwelling

“CP is unable to consider a proposal to co-locate a passenger rail service on our property unless it can be demonstrated that a segregated passenger operation can be built on adjacent infrastructure without interfering with CP’s freight capacity, or restricting the physical space required to accommodate future growth."

While Canmore's drinking water distribution system does not contain lead pipes, homes in the community built before 1960 might. As a result, Epcor and the Town of Canmore hope to launch a new program, once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, to test tap water from residential properties to determine lead levels.

Beginning next Monday (July 13), passengers travelling on Roam Transit buses in the Bow Valley will be required to wear a face covering, with some exceptions. Roam is the first public transit provider in Alberta to make face coverings mandatory as an additional safety measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

As of Wednesday (July 1), the Town of Canmore began reopening its facilities, however those hoping to swim at Elevation Place will have to wait until August due to a broken light fixture over the pool that needs to be replaced. Those who want to use the fitness centre and climbing wall will be able to do so by reservation beginning mid-July.

"We have to look at all the risks and benefits for our kids, for the teachers and for the administrators," said Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw during a town hall livestream Thursday (June 25). "Having kids stay at home and do virtual school for long periods of time brings with it other risks that we need to take into consideration."
