CANMORE – A long-awaited move to discourage employee housing in Canmore’s light industrial areas will head to a public hearing. First reading was given by council at its Tuesday (July 2) meeting and to set a public hearing for Sept. 3.

LETTER: There are many reasons we question the appropriateness of this proposed development, including but not limited to the following.

“The board is satisfied that the stop order was properly issued by municipal enforcement,”

“We’ve had a lot of meetings with locals and phone calls and text messages over the years. We appreciate the public engagement we’ve had through the ASP [area structure plan] process, various open houses, as well as site walks.”

LETTER: I believe Town council needs to start focusing on the "must haves" and defer the "wants" and "new initiatives" until they can be fit in with an annual budget that keeps annual property tax increases a lot lower than in recent years.
