Former Canmore accountant James 'Russ' Neilson was found guilty Friday (July 24) on all fraud charges related to his Bow Valley-based business Abaca Solutions. A sentencing hearing has been set for the end of August.

During its budget discussions this fall, Canmore council will consider the five-year financial plan's request for two additional officers and support staff position.

"We recognize how difficult masking would be, especially in lower elementary grades, which is why we are not relying on any single health measure to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the school setting," said Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw.

"The idea is administration would look to come back likely in 2021 to complete the balance of the project." 

Due to the difficult terrain at the crash site and lack of road access, some of those injured were triaged and treated before being airlifted to a staging area where ambulances were waiting. Injuries ranged from serious head and pelvic trauma to leg and shoulder fractures. 

"To be frank, when we negotiated this 2010 agreement, at the time the Town had three resources available to do it, but Epcor had much larger resources available to them," said manager of public works Andreas Comeau. "For that reason, we allowed them to write the agreement, which was generally approved by both parties. But it looks like the flavour is more balanced towards Epcor as noted by the consultant." 

As of Tuesday (July 21) afternoon, the Bow Valley had 14 positive active cases confirmed with eight in Banff, six in the overall Canmore geographical area, which includes two cases in the MD of Bighorn and one in the town of Canmore
