“I am disappointed by many Conservative MPs, but some of them deserve more … ire from their constituents than others, and one of them is the MP of this riding, Blake Richards. He’s the whip of Erin O’Toole and he’s carrying O’Toole’s water out here."

As voters prepare to head to the polls for a federal election on Sept. 20, the current governing party has unveiled its candidate for the Banff-Airdrie riding.

“The way we stay relevant, helpful and meaningful is to evolve but the key thread throughout the existence of Friends of Kananaskis is our trail stewardship and our trail care program. That continues to be our strength in how we engage the community. There’s a real community engagement in that program where people can give back to the trails they love.”

Blake Richards, the member of Parliament for the Conservative Party and the incumbent the Banff-Airdrie riding, submitted his nomination to run in the upcoming federal election on Sept. 20.

“Finally, the day has come when justice has been done and this mountain will move forward. The renaming is especially significant to the Stoney Nakoda Elders who have endured years and years of disrespect to their gender. I know they would be proud on this moment.”

“When COVID-19 hit our community and we all faced lockdown, our team knew immediately that we needed to serve this community, and we were always thinking about who in our community is vulnerable right now. We quickly realized that health care workers were very vulnerable and the new unsung heroes, and we wanted to do something that would honour them through the arts."

“This was a very challenging situation for members of our community, for residents and businesses. It was also very challenging for the Town and EPCOR staff who were working to resolve this who are members of the community. We do appreciate after the year-and-a-half people have been through, this was rough.”

“I have pretty much overseen every department and area of the Town with that progression through public works and deputy CAO and now CAO. It’s been very rewarding and a privilege to have been so involved in Canmore in the transition from a small community to a really beautiful tourism destination."

In the Banff-Airdrie constituency, Conservative Party incumbent Blake Richards is expected to face-off against at least five opponents, including David Gamble of the Liberal Party, Tariq Elnaga of the Maverick Party, Nadine Wellwood of the People's Party of Canada, Aidan Blum for the Green Party and Derek Sloan as an independent.
