Councillor Grant Canning suggests some revenue from paid parking should go towards free bus passes for Banff residents on local routes.

“There is enough vaccine for all those in Alberta eligible for immunization in Phase 2A to get their first dose in the next two weeks," said Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought several struggles to the Bow Valley region, but it has also highlighted the many ways the community has come together to help those in need.

When residents enter the Banff postal code, the online information indicates there are no available vaccination appointments for that area.

“I thought it was a great idea since I’m passionate about food and it’s important for the local economy to be sustainable instead of relying on products from elsewhere."

The first two performances for the Banff Library Listening Room concert series will feature Alanna J. Brown on April 9 and Lori Reid on June 11.

"That’s five animals just in the last little while, so it’s definitely on our radar that that’s fairly high mortality," said Bill Hunt, resource conservation manager for Banff National Park.

“We all remember what happened with house parties at Halloween and what that meant to our community in terms of numbers soaring," said Coun. Chip Olver.

“Our primary focus is to keep wildlife and people safe in this situation – that’s why we have the closure in place.”

COVID-19 presented an unexpected hurdle to overcome, or new opportunity to pivot for a number of Bow Valley entrepreneurs. Their passion for their profession and community pushed them to succeed.
