The Calgary Region Airshed Zone – which includes Banff, Canmore and the MD of Bighorn – expanded its air quality monitoring with new sensors.

PHOTOS: The last week in the Bow Valley had the province fully reopen from public health restrictions, which saw businesses fully reopen and tourists come en masse to the mountain communities.

“I think these will be well embraced over the next couple of years, based on the other changes that have been made at Quarry Park."

I believe it’s been clearly supported within the community that maintaining an active helicopter business from the heliport is critically important to a number of aspects to our community, particularly with safety and mountain rescue and servicing the backcountry."

“We want every single person that goes out on the roads to get home safely. Obviously we want that because those are our children and our friends and our neighbours, but we also want it because the less you feel safe on the road and the less you're comfortable on the road, you're going to drive."

In an about-face from earlier in their meeting, Canmore council switched from heading to a special meeting later this week to discuss their mask bylaw to scraping it with a 6-1 vote.

“I love my school. They have amazing staff and really caring teachers who helped me a ton. Whether it was with academics or just helping me manage everything I was doing, it’s a very supportive environment."

“I feel like after all this time, we’ve sort of forgotten the actual reason for wearing the mask. It’s not about protecting ourselves, but it’s about protecting other people.”
