“I am concerned and worried – say it comes in at $10 million or $9 million or $8.3 million – that we will be forced to make a decision to put the money aside or take money from short- term borrowing," said Councillor Hugh Pettigrew.

“I still struggle with a vote that we had approving an ongoing annual quarter of a million dollar expense with no report to council,” said Coun. Chip Olver.

“As we’ve seen the strain on the EMS system for some time now, I’m pleased to see that the provincial government has made this a priority,” said Canmore Mayor Sean Krausert.

“The vision for your town is truly found in your budget because you’re putting your money where your mouth is,” said Mayor Corrie DiManno during the final budget meeting on Wednesday (Jan. 26).

“It is a busy time for a development in Banff and that’s a good thing for us that our commercial sector has such confidence in recovery. These significant numbers in development permits and building permits bode well for long-term prospects for our community economically.”

On July 11, 1998, a local tour guide located human remains on the back side of Sulphur Mountain, and despite an investigation that has spanned almost 25 years, the remains of the man have yet to be identified.

“I think the key principle is to have it inclusive and affordable and accessible so I am really excited to see this become more of a year-round facility for residents.”

The Town of Banff is hosting walk-in vaccination clinics on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 to encourage more people to get their booster shots.

“This is reaching an awareness that I think could benefit by some immediate actions," said Coun. Ted Christensen.
