Despite receiving pushback from countless organizations, municipalities and associations, the UCP is full steam ahead with bringing in a provincial police force.

A 53-year-old Fort Saskatchewan woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1A near Morley Road Friday night, police said.

Emergency response times for police, fire and EMS calls could improve by up to 20 minutes for those living on Stoney Nakoda First Nation by early next year.

“This is a significant issue, and the board is satisfied that it is appropriate to modify condition 6 to clarify the applicant’s responsibilities and the testing to be carried out. The board modified condition six to specify that monitoring/testing wells must be located upslope from the intended location on the retailing well, since that is the area of concern for damage to the aquifer.”

Similar to British Columbia and Ontario, where rents for the majority of rental units can only be increased by a specific percentage each year, Alberta needs to have a system in place to protect tenants.

“This is something big, this is for our people and I hope that it will bring awareness to the drug crisis that we’re in – it’s ongoing and it’s an epidemic. The drug crisis itself is wiping out our people. It’s taking our youth a lot more than we could have ever expected and a lot faster, and it’s taking our older generation, too, before we even get a chance to try and heal their traumas.”
