A man convicted of a horrific sexual assault in Banff in 2005 was denied an application by the Supreme Court of British Columbia that his rights had been violated as a prisoner.

“We have a big challenge on our hands. But here we have an opportunity and a proposal and an area for developing our own police for the convenience of the people.”

“It was witnessed leaving the Bear Street parkade and failed to stop at that stop sign, but they then proceeded to stop at the following stop sign and then it did take off aggressively, accelerating, squealing its tires and almost hitting parked vehicles,”

“There’s a lot of people who walk through the area. … If you have someone taking target practice, it’s not very comforting.”

"One member of the group was partly buried and able to dig themselves out. The other member was fully buried and did not survive."

"The vehicle which contained the deceased is the same truck in the included picture," said RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Gina Slaney, in a media release. 

“The neighbours chose to shelter in place, and because the officers could position themselves between the suspect and any other people, it was felt unnecessary to have to do an evacuation."

An Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) investigation into whether Cochrane RCMP officers were negligent in the 2021 death of a Mînî Thnî infant found no fault on the part of responding officers.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating after human remains were found inside a vehicle at a trail head in Bow Valley Provincial Park Friday (Nov. 3).
