Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 55-year-old man that occurred on Îyârhe (Stoney) Nakoda First Nation last month as a homicide.

Two people are dead following a grizzly bear attack in Banff National Park, according to Parks Canada.

“The vehicle rolled and ended up on its roof, and was damaged beyond repair,” said Staff Sgt Mike Buxton-Carr, the detachment commander of Banff RCMP.

The court, including friends and family members of Brogden present in the public gallery, is expected to hear testimony from 18 witnesses, with Kaitlyn Perrin as Crown prosecutor and Derek Jugnauth as defense counsel.

Cochrane RCMP reported Friday morning (Sept. 29) that Shanelle Jimmy has been found safe.

One person has died on a popular cycling path in Banff National Park Saturday morning (Sept. 2).

An overdue hiker was found dead near the Cascade Falls trailhead following a search of the area Monday (Aug. 28). 

“The bus showed up at the band office stop and the bus driver asked clients to provide tickets to get on. One of the clients did not have a ticket and got very upset. The driver told him he couldn’t come on and then he was punched in the face.”

While interest is high in implementing self-administered policing in Indigenous communities, Blake said “restrictive and discriminatory” practices in the system in Canada and a lack of research have made policing a challenging endeavour for Indigenous communities to pursue and sustain.

The man accused of beginning the fire that destroyed a large staff accommodation for Lake Louise Ski Resort will undergo a 30-day mental health assessment.
