“The response has been incredible. I’ve heard it’s promoting community engagement and encouraging people to stop and look at them, but also talk with one another about the art as they walk the trail which is the main point of the project to encourage engagement."

“We’ll always be looking to see if there's land available within the community, including what lands we may own or not own at the moment or what lands may be feasible for future developments that provide the purposes of the vital Homes program. … Hopefully over time, we can work with the development community to provide homes through their developments that meet the needs of our programming.”

“It’s really about math. How much does it cost us, what’s the budget piece, how much do we get from other sources and what’s left is what we need to collect from taxes?”

“We're trying to present a more complete picture, a more complete chronology of what we did over there. (It’s) an overview of what we did in Afghanistan, but it's still a better chronology of what's been presented to date."

"It’s a really significant step forward for mitigating the impacts of highways on wildlife in Alberta,” said Adam Linnard, Y2Y’s Alberta program manager.

“There’s a lot of real and neat interesting connections to Banff through the military. Banff has quite a history. There’s a great history in the town.”

When asked what the priorities for the Town of Canmore will be for the coming four years, all members of council offered the same answer following their election victories – affordability.

“My heart is with the survivors. We’re walking for the survivors to show them we care. We’re walking for the children for a better future. I cannot turn around and turn in the same track twice because Canada has only gone backwards and this journey is about going forwards.”
