“These are individuals who I feel without the pilot program and our dedicated team and our volunteers, it might’ve been a very tough winter, especially with the cold snap. I’m really grateful we were open. These are individuals in our community, individuals who have found themselves in our community and need a shelter and it’s important we continue to support them.”

Stoney Nakoda representatives asked the Town of Banff to hold off on a name for the new pedestrian bridge until Stoney Nakoda has had time to complete a cultural assessment; however, the request did not make it in time for council's July 14 meeting when the bridge was officially named The Nancy Pauw Bridge

“We don’t know enough of what that would entail and we know it would mean additional resources, but we don’t know right now what those resources would be because we have to take some time to research what the most effective and efficient way of delivering the pass program regionally would be.”

"We didn't do as good as we would have liked, but, you know, you have to take what you learn from it and hopefully you get to go back to it again in the future. It's sure pretty cool to be somewhere where it's so loud – the crowd, the fireworks and other stuff – you get that at other places, but not that loud."

The Calgary Region Airshed Zone – which includes Banff, Canmore and the MD of Bighorn – expanded its air quality monitoring with new sensors.

“We’ve been getting a lot of positive feedback from the cycling experience from people the last year-and-a-half. We’ve also been getting feedback from people who really love the scenic drive and want access to those day areas."
