“At this time, no current outbreaks are being required to close, but health officials will review all current outbreaks in the coming days."

Part two of Buried in the Aftermath looks at how mountain guides are affected by critical incidents that occur in the backcountry. Barry Blanchard shares his experience dealing with trauma as a guide and details a new initiative – Mountain Muskox. Ken Wylie, who as an assistant guide survived an avalanche in 2003 that killed seven clients, challenges the industry with taking a look at how it handles these types of incidents.

“The signs indicate we should be prepared for U.S. visitation in the fall and our plan and budget reflect that,” said BLLT president and CEO Leslie Bruce.

“In normal circumstances we’d be able to run our hotel, but in the current climate it’s just not the case," said YWCA Banff CEO Ebony Rempel.

“It’s sort of odd for a tourism community to say this is the time to stay away, but we have to show leadership in our community by how we communicate,” said Councillor Peter Poole.

Lobbying efforts pay off for Banff and Lake Louise residents with AHS approving vaccines for those aged 18-39.

“The ownership is not involved and actually is very proactive in trying to stop that. The owner has been quite proactive and helpful in terms of living up to his responsibility,” said Banff RCMP Staff Sergeant Mike Buxton-Carr.

Banff town council is reconvening its COVID-19 meeting at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday (May 4).

“With the very serious situation in our community, we urge everyone to follow the public health measures in place to stop the curve.”
