“The ice has just formed and right now it can be pretty high risk if you chose to go way out on these water bodies,” said Steve Holeczi, a visitor safety specialist for Banff National Park.

“I am really grateful to be here and I am excited to be here and I am ready to hit the ground running.”

“Our vaccination numbers are sitting at 8,685 people in Banff/ID 9 fully vaccinated, but we still have about 1,200 folks who received a first dose and haven’t had a second dose yet."

“In the current and unique situation of the pandemic – where businesses have been under intense financial pressure – BLLHA believes the Town could look to provide relief to affected businesses,” said Darren Reeder, BLLHA’s executive director.

“We believe that these types of events contribute to the growing perception of crowding and the over commercialization of Banff National Park," said Bow Valley Naturalists vice-president Reg Bunyan of large-scale competitive sporting events.

“We did know there was going to be major changes on our board of directors, and getting a budget passed before the end of the year with brand new directors and brand new councils may have been quite difficult."

The cougar was able feed on most of the dead elk before Parks Canada removed the carcass for public safety reasons.

“Thank you for showing that amidst skiing, hiking, climbing, cycling, paddling, dining and shopping, we elevate the role of arts and culture, and particularly the literary arts, in the Banff community.”
