BOW VALLEY - Due to slick conditions and poor visibility, police are advising against non-essential travel on Highway 1 east of Canmore.
On Saturday evening (Feb. 25), RCMP said blowing snow has created black ice and visibility is very poor between Highway 40 near Kananaskis and Highway 22 near Cochrane.

"At this time, there are many vehicles in the ditches and emergency crews are on scene assisting. If you do not have essential travel in this area, it is advised that you stay off the Highway," said an RCMP statement.
According to 511 Alberta, emergency crews are on scene near Highway 40 due to earlier motor vehicle accidents.
Delays are expected.
