“In many respects, this is exactly what I was expecting. I expected to get over the 15,000 permanent resident mark, which we did. I was expecting we would have some increase due to non-permanent residents deciding to move here full-time due to COVID and encouraging people to work from where they live. If you have the opportunity to live in a beautiful place full-time, I understand why someone would do that.”

“Alberta Transportation has told us they would take on responsibility for the entire T-intersection once it’s aligned. The MD has been at odds with the province. We don’t believe the bird cage is our responsibility. We believe it’s part of the highway network.”

A public hearing gave residents of the MD of Bighorn to voice their feelings for a proposed visitor and flexible accommodation of more than 100 units in the hamlet of Dead Man’s Flats.

“In light of the growing challenges associated with the Omicron variant, we are pleased with the government’s decision to again abate the Alberta tourism levy in recognition of the lodging sector’s need to find cash flow to make it through the winter season."

“We believe [the lands] are more conducive to industrial development, that’s the reason for the whole swap."
