In the midst of an ongoing debate on employee housing in Canmore’s industrial areas, a previously approved project had additional employee units added to its development.

“This pause is intended to prevent further loss of our housing inventory to guest accommodation until this council confirms the bed and breakfast bylaw. It’s not about a reduction in bed and breakfast numbers. This motion is about a pause in issuing more bed and breakfast licenses until council affirms the new bed and breakfast bylaw.”

“I’m just so glad we can finally say this is completed. The endurance of our past council and administrators has paid off and I’m glad to see that this is now done.”

EDITORIAL: Employee housing has become one of the more polarizing topics in Canmore in recent months.
