“If the SAEWA project is successful, we will be able to reduce that distance by 50 per cent for many municipalities and also have the ability for municipalities to have long-term budgeting for municipal works based on a dependent tipping fee at a facility that they actually have some control over. We can come up with a long-term dependable solution with predictable economic costs as well as environmental benefits.”

“There’s a very clear understanding for people who work in the food sector, but folks who aren’t so familiar with some of the issues surrounding food in the Bow valley, I don’t think they necessarily see some of those issues if they’re not impacted by them or working in the field on a regular basis."

The Calgary Region Airshed Zone – which includes Banff, Canmore and the MD of Bighorn – expanded its air quality monitoring with new sensors.

PHOTOS: The last week in the Bow Valley had the province fully reopen from public health restrictions, which saw businesses fully reopen and tourists come en masse to the mountain communities.

It could be a week or two later and more information could come to the surface from the presentation that wasn’t available as was with the last work that was done.”
