Banff-Airdrie MP Blake Richards is out as the chief opposition whip for the federal Conservative Party.

“I think it’s really important these documents are clear and they tell the whole picture. I think more clarity between the two documents, but most importantly clarity with the new document we’re being asked to approve.”

“I really feel like there’s a lot of unanswered questions and we’re being asked to say we support or oppose a train when we don’t actually have all of the information."

“Alberta Transportation has told us they would take on responsibility for the entire T-intersection once it’s aligned. The MD has been at odds with the province. We don’t believe the bird cage is our responsibility. We believe it’s part of the highway network.”

A public hearing gave residents of the MD of Bighorn to voice their feelings for a proposed visitor and flexible accommodation of more than 100 units in the hamlet of Dead Man’s Flats.

“Cost of living is far different here than in Didsbury. I know we have to base it on what other councils are making, but if cost of living is double where we are compared to Didsbury, as an example, is that a fair way to do it?”

“Anyone who has had a vaccination shot will be reviewed when they come into the office and we will use the QR code and they will be allowed to come into the office. We’re trying to achieve a balance for people who volunteer or work for the MD, dealing with the COVID crisis right now.”

“Given the COVID-19 rates in the valley, we remain deeply concerned with the increasing numbers and our capacity to keep classes and schools open for your children, due to staffing shortages," said CRPS superintendent Chris MacPhee.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has told the new minister responsible for Parks Canada, Steven Guilbeault, that he must invest in existing national parks and create new ones, and the new tourism minister, Randy Boissonault, to develop a national trails tourism strategy.
