Two men found with drugs in their possession were fined in Canmore Provincial Court this week.

Keith Peter Heide pleaded guilty to a single count of possession last Wednesday (Jan. 12) before Judge John Reilly.

Crown prosecutor Anita Szabo said Heide was stopped by RCMP on Oct. 8 and was found to be in possession of 5.25 ml of oxycotin liquid and .25 grams of marijuana.

Szabo added Heide has a criminal record from 2008 for possession and trafficking.

“I think it would be appropriate for a significant fine, although it was a minimal amount, given his record,” she said.

Reilly fined Heide $500 plus a $75 victim fine surcharge.

Joshua David Sippel also pleaded guilty to two counts of possession.

Szabo said Sippel was involved in a single vehicle rollover on Nov. 12 in the Kananaskis area.

She said he was the sole occupant of the vehicle, which had landed on its side, and in his backpack officers found 5.1 grams of marijuana in three bags and 21 grams of hash.

“He was on release on a recognizance not to be in possession of controlled drugs or substances,” Szabo added.
