A Town Celebration of Local Heroes will be held at the Radisson Hotel in Canmore when The Night The Cougar Roared community party and fundraiser takes place, Friday (Nov. 1).

The event will feature a dance party with Sully’s Garage, Andrew Ibanez and Cronic. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $25, available at Heart Mountain Store in Exshaw and Shoes t’ Boot and March’s Floor Coverings in Canmore.

“It began with a group of friends who wanted to help out and raise some funds,” said organizer Kathleen Matheson. “We wanted to work with the Town, that wanted to do a heroes celebration and it kind of came together.

“We’re donating funds raised to Rotary, because we want to make a point of helping all our neighbours in Canmore, Exshaw and Morley and they’re distributing funds.

“We really want our friends in Exshaw to come and we’ll have buses donated by Canadian Rockies Public Schools and sponsored by Riverstone Insurance. We’d love for them to be part of this.”

Buses will make pickups at the Exshaw Legion at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., with rides back leaving at 10:30, 11:30 and 12:30 p.m.

The evening will also feature a photography exhibit of flood images by Kelly Schovanek.
