BREAKING NEWS - Streamflow advisory

A high streamflow advisory was issued for the Bow, Oldman, Milk and South Saskatchewan Rivers through the Province’s Alberta Emergency Alert system, Monday (June 16).

A high streamflow advisory was issued for the Bow, Oldman, Milk and South Saskatchewan Rivers through the Province’s Alberta Emergency Alert system, Monday (June 16).

As well, a flood watch has been issued for High River, Crowsnest River and Willow Creek.

According to the alert, water level rises of between one and two metres can be expected to occur over the next several days, based on the current weather forecast.

Conditions are being monitored and advisories will be revised as necessary should the weather system shift. The River Forecast Centre is in contact with emergency managers in the advisory area.

Meanwhile, Environment Canada shows a rainfall warning in effect, with 10 to 15 millimetres expected during the day, Monday and 30 to 40mm over night, with a risk of a thunderstorm. For Tuesday (June 17), Environment Canada is calling for heavy rain ending in the evening, with a then 30 per cent chance of showers for 15mm in all.
