Parks Canada issued a black bear warning for the Tunnel Mountain campground area in Banff due to a pair of bruins feeding on natural food sources in the area.
On Thursday (July 18), Parks said the warning is in effect due to the bears’ proximity to campers in Village I and II and the trailer court.
Parks reminds campers that anything with a food odour may attract a bear to a campsite – coolers, food items, garbage, dishes/pots and pans, pet food and bowls, bottles and cans are included and need to be stored or disposed of properly.
Parks also asks that bear sightings be reported to Banff Dispatch at 403-762-1470.
