A blaze at a Morley residence is confirmed as arson, say Cochrane RCMP.
A mother and two children were uninjured as they escaped flames and smoke inside their home early on Friday (Aug. 7) morning. A neighbour reported the fire as crews arrived and began to battle the blaze at around 5 a.m.
RCMP Sgt. Jeff Campbell said the detachment has “multiple persons of interest” they are looking into and the fire is under investigation.
Exshaw Fire and Rescue Chief Rick Lyster says the fire was completely extinguished by 9 a.m., but the house was destroyed.
The three residents will be assisted through band administration with temporary housing.
The Outlook will update the story if more information becomes available.
