Two men are facing charges under the Canada National Parks Act for the illegal catch and retention of Yellowstone Cutthroat trout and other fishing offences, hunting in a park, discharging a firearm in a park, illegal fire, damage/destroying natural objects and use of a drone without a permit.

“It’s a European model of a teahouse and accommodation that people have been asking for, for a lot of our facilities for a lot of years.”

“Like some animals do, they just disappear and you don’t know where they go or what happened to them, so it’s kind of cool that this collar showed showed up 19 years later,” said Jesse Whittington, a wildlife research and monitoring ecologist with Banff National Park.

The Town of Banff is hosting walk-in vaccination clinics on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 to encourage more people to get their booster shots.

Avalanche experts say there have been several close calls reported recently, with many large avalanches running the full extent of their paths.

“Paramedics treated and transported an adult male to the Mineral Springs Hospital in Banff where they were met by STARS air ambulance who then transported the patient to Foothills Medical Centre,” said Shane Paton, a spokesperson for Alberta EMS.

“I really feel like there’s a lot of unanswered questions and we’re being asked to say we support or oppose a train when we don’t actually have all of the information."

“We’ve seen visitors are more than willing to pay to park in our town. VPP has not deterred people from coming to Banff and I think it’s enhanced their experience in reducing time driving around looking for parking spots."
