While escaping the fire with her phone and wallet, 20-year-old Madeleine O’Conner is grateful for a GoFundMe campaign started by her aunt to help replace all her personal items destroyed in the fire at the Charleston staff residence.

Both occupants of the car were pronounced dead.

“My niece just moved in and was one of the first to discover the fire, pulled the alarm, and went across the road to get help from the RCMP,” said Little of Pickering, Ontario, on a GoFundMe page set up for her niece.

“The fire is still in progress and it looks like it will take out our entire Charleston residence,” said Dan Markham, communications director for Skiing Louise.

“Our goal is to ensure the safety of everyone on the buses and on our roadways,” said Sgt. Susan Richter, detachment commander of the Lake Louise RCMP.

“At this time, traffic is not permitted to exit off Highway 1 onto Highway 93, due to a collision north of Radium,” said Gina Slaney, public information officer for Alberta RCMP.
