Snowfall warning for Canmore, Kananaskis, MD of Bighorn

A total 10-20 centimetres of snow is forecasted to fall, with heaviest accumulations “south of a line from Canmore to Okotoks to Bassano.”

BOW VALLEY – A snowfall warning has been issued for Canmore, Kananaskis Country and the Municipal District of Bighorn.

Environment Canada is calling for about five millimetres of rain Saturday morning (Feb. 3), which is forecasted to turn to snow by the afternoon as temperatures fall just below freezing. 

“Snow, heavy at times, is expected in parts of southern Alberta beginning Saturday afternoon,” states the warning. “Snowfall will be heavy until Sunday morning.”

A total of 10-20 centimetres of snow is forecasted to fall, with heaviest accumulations “south of a line from Canmore to Okotoks to Bassano.”

About five centimetres of snow is expected to fall in Canmore Saturday, with 5-10 cm expected overnight. Temperatures will reach about -1 Celsius in the afternoon and dip to -7 C with the windchill overnight. 

Motorists are warned the conditions could make travel difficult and reduce visibility.
