When COVID-19 cases in Bow Valley spiked at the beginning of December, a grassroots volunteer effort – Three Communities: One Valley – began to help those in quarantine or isolation by picking up and delivering things like mail, groceries and medications.

“You might ask how can such a big machine like a train be difficult to detect? But when trains are travelling downhill, they can be surprisingly quiet, especially if they are coming around corners."

It is illegal to park along the side of a provincial highway, however that has not deterred Albertans flocking to outdoor recreation destinations like Gap Lake – which resulted in a multi-vehicle collision along the 1A Highway on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 28)

“For me it felt like something was missing from that project. Seniors are an important part of the community and they were unable to be included at the time so my goal was to have them engage with the community again.”

“If we see increasing COVID cases going into hospital, the only way to provide the space to care for them is to stop doing other services … Albertans who need other care could end up having their health conditions worsen as these COVID cases rises."

“It’s exciting to finally have the chance to perform this play in front of an audience. It almost feels like we’ve been rehearsing for a year since we started in January.”

“When you have firefighters that are based here, we just care so much about the people and there is so much culture, which I think is huge,” said Colten Wildman, who at one point in 2019 was the only firefighter in the department. “I think we differ from other fire departments because we have such a strong cultural background here and our firefighters take a lot of pride in being from here and representing the Nation.”
