One man was killed when two pedestrians were hit by a vehicle Thursday morning on the Trans-Canada Highway, just outside of Lake Louise.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in an assault last month in Banff.

“The proposed strategy for moving people sustainably seems like a missed opportunity in its current form given this management plan will guide decision-making for the next 10 years."

“We’re entering a new territory with more fire activity in our future all over Canada… people who have been fighting fires for 30 to 40 years say they haven’t seen anything like it.”

“I don’t know if we’re going to see a heatwave of that magnitude and duration any time soon, but the expectation is as our climate changes, we are going to see more extreme heatwaves more often in summer time.”

“Just one patient of the 18 in the ICU right now was fully vaccinated – all the rest did not have the benefit that two doses of vaccine offer," said Dr. Deena Henshaw, Alberta's top medical officer of health.

“While I never intended to leave the role of mayor before this term was complete, I am confident in the abilities of our very thoughtful and diverse Council, and I am comforted knowing a municipal election is only a few months away. And while I will be spending part of my time in Ottawa, Banff has and will always have my heart."

“I think destination marketing is absolutely important, but I think the issue is one of magnitude and fairness and are there any other alternatives than the current way we’re doing this," said Councillor Peter Poole.

“We have been fortunate this year so far in the Calgary Forest Area that there haven't been wildfires threatening communities, but we always have to be on alert."
