Parks needs more wardens

Yesterday I went cross-country skiing along the Banff to Jasper highway.

At the first stop there was a trail closure sign due to a hibernating bear, however, two other groups skied past the sign.

When I called the Banff National Park dispatch number at 762-1470 to advise them of the closure violations so they could send a warden to investigate, I was informed that there were no law enforcement officers working on weekends.

The message is loud and clear – if you have no scruples about disturbing wildlife, you can do anything you want in Banff National Park on the weekends because nobody is monitoring the use of the park. You can go poaching, hunting, trapping, camping, snowmobiling, or whatever.

This is how much the Conservative government cares about our wildlife.
