Many visitors and residents enjoy the experience of spending an afternoon in Riverside Park. Unfortunately, it is fast approaching its full capacity, especially on weekends.

The West Canmore playground park – located just east of the boat launch – is the perfect location for another pedestrian, family-friendly park. Expand the existing gravel path to circumvent the area, add benches and picnic tables and you have an instant park. The washroom is already there.

Canmore Creek – adjacent to the west side – is home to beavers, ducks, blue herons and in the past, great-horned owls have nested in the vicinity. Elk and deer are often seen in the marshy area.

The boat launch parking area could easily be expanded to accommodate the extra traffic. Given the history of the area perhaps it could be renamed, Mineside Memorial Park.

Town Council will be allocating funds for the upcoming budget in the coming months. It is your tax dollars they are spending. If you support a new park, reach out to Town council. Nancy Way,

Canmore
