With the recent passing of Gerry Stephenson, all those who live in Canmore are worse off.
Mr. Stephenson was our sober second-thought. He was a scholar, an environmentalist, a historian and a gentleman.
He was also a visionary. He conceived of, and made happen, one of the jewels of this community, Quarry Lake.
He called it, “my proudest accomplishment.”
It’s only fitting that the Town of Canmore rally together to rename Quarry Lake, Stephenson Lake.
It’s the least we can do to honour Gerry and his family. And all he did for Canmore.
