UPDATED: Multi-vehicle collision on Highway 93 sends three people to hospital

BC Emergency Health Services received a call at 2 p.m. about the motor vehicle collision and an air ambulance, advanced care paramedic unit and two ambulances responded.

KOOTENAY NATIONAL PARK – A multi-vehicle crash near Kootenay Crossing on Highway 93 Friday (Feb. 9) put three people in hospital.

BC Emergency Health Services received a call at 2 p.m. about the motor vehicle collision and an air ambulance, advanced care paramedic unit and two ambulances responded.

"Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment on scene and transported one patient by air ambulance to hospital in serious condition. Paramedics also transported two patients by ground ambulance to hospital in stable condition," said Cindy Leong, BCEHS communications officer.

DriveBC and 511 Alberta confirmed the accident near the British Columbia/Alberta border around 2:30 p.m. Road conditions were reported as primarily bare and wet, with good visibility as of about 11 a.m. Friday.
