LETTER: I’ve just learned that Canadian Blood Services finally lifted the restrictions that kept those of us who lived in Great Britain during the 'mad cow' years in the mid- to late-1980s from giving blood in Canada. It was almost 40 years later – that was a long wait.

A major construction project along the Trans-Canada Highway near Golden, B.C. is in the final stages following several hundred million in costs and years of work.

LETTER: I enjoyed reading Jim Gough’s letter in the Nov. 23 Outlook, “Freedom doesn’t survive in isolation.” It was very insightful and thought-provoking. I found a couple of passages to be of particular interest, with regard to the path taken by totalitarian governments in waiting.
