The new year is ready to welcome new trends in all aspects of our lives, from fashion and music to interior design. Today we’d like to explore some of the interior design trends that we predict will completely dominate the space in 2023. From colours to decor, here’s what we expect to see in 2023.

Moody, Deep Colours

In 2022 we saw a bit of a departure from the all-white everything and we’re going to see even more of that in 2023. In fact, we might see the other end of the spectrum. We expect deep, moody-coloured rooms with pallets of deep greens, purples, blues, and even blacks and greys. There will likely be a lot of monochromes, so you can expect whichever deep colour has been chosen to match on the trim and accents, too.

A Focus on Lighting

Lighting is going to really take the spotlight in 2023. Since COVID, people have been especially interested in creating the perfect mood and ambience in their homes. This means different lighting in different parts of the house, carefully-selected lighting, more stylish and curated fixtures, and a general focus on lighting that wasn’t there before.

Organization Above Everything

Another product of the pandemic, there has been a huge push toward efficient, convenient, and aesthetically pleasing storage and organization, from multi-functional pieces such as beds with drawers underneath to carefully-imagined storage spaces and storage accessories for closets, drawers, pantries, and cupboards. When our homes became our whole worlds during the pandemic, having dead space or poorly utilized space soon became unthinkable. Organization is king in 2023.

More Vibrant Colour Pallets

Brighter colour pallets are also on the rise if you’re not a deep and moody person. With the rise of maximalist and art déco decor, bright colours are still very much in trend. Boring colour ballets are out, and people are really showing off their personalities on their walls.

Hand-Picked Statement Pieces

We’re also seeing a rise in statement pieces such as lamps, side tables, wall prints, decor items, etc. Again, 2023 is sure to bring a whole lot of personality. If you see a wacky or “out there” piece that you fall in love with, there’s no time like the present to bring it home. Remember, statement pieces can only make a statement because they aren’t competing for attention. Choose wisely!

Nostalgia In All Forms

Last but not least, nostalgia is taking the forefront. Expect to see various forms of vintage and retro-inspired decor and design for years to come. We’ve seen the rise of granny-chic or granny-core style, and it’s still in trend. It’s just leaning away from the super kitschy and more to the comforting, beautiful, and nostalgic.
