A winter storm warning is in place for Canmore, the MD of Bighorn and Kananaskis Country with up to 40 cm of snowfall expected throughout southwestern Alberta beginning Thursday afternoon (March 12)

“We are now recommending a policy which amalgamates the user fee and rental rate policy and the operating policy into one ... [It also] incorporates principles from expired memorandums of understandings (MOUs) with the private sector and updates the policy to make it simple, clear and concise."

“[It's] housekeeping, if you will. It’s good to know the land use bylaw is easier to understand for the layperson and that we’ve eliminated a lot of editorial glitches.”

“I appreciate this as a critical piece in the puzzle, we’re not talking about an increase to the cost of the project, just sourcing it through different funds. It’s disappointing that the ACT grant disappeared.”

“We will go into work and we don’t know how we are getting paid for what we do – Hopefully we will be getting paid, but we have no idea how much or how we should organize our practice. It is very difficult right now to understand how to deliver quality care in that context.”

“If the province is going to give us a fee to pay, which changed from the last ten years, I think it would be in our communities best interest to pass that fee on to the user.”

A flurry of activities took place during the annual Canmore Winter Carnival.

“I feel strongly that Canmore is responding to an issue that a number of communities are dealing with."

“I think what I hear a lot from my constituents is that they’re wondering if this is actually relevant anymore based on what is continuing to be coming forward from the developer on these lands.”

Canmore RCMP still need help identifying two suspects.
