“Cougars are part of nature; you know they are out there and you give them big respect,” said Laura Frost, the mother of Frances Frost who was killed by a cougar in Banff National Park 20 years ago.

Town of Banff staff will see a 1.4 per cent cost-of-living increase in 2021 following a close 4-3 vote by council at a budget meeting on Wednesday (Jan. 27).

Three cougars have died in Banff over the past two weeks – an adult female cat died while recovering after being captured and collared and what's believed to be her kitten died of unknown causes on Friday (Jan. 22). A sick female cougar was euthanized by Parks Canada earlier this month.

"Bus travel is intended to be four to six kilometres an hour … Vail has gone 30 years with one incident of a pedestrian accident in that time period.”

The first talk of the 2021 Bow Valley Naturalists online speaker series is on Tuesday (Jan. 26) at 7:30 p.m. and features the work of Bow Valley resident and research scientists Dr. Shari Fox, who will present The Meaning of Ice: People and Sea Ice in the Arctic.
