In regards to Canmore’s mayor's participation at a two-day meeting at the Local Climate Action Summit in Dubai, UAE, which is 11,475 kilometres away, is inexcusable.
No matter how much knowledge you have to share about what we have done here in Canmore, it cannot justify that carbon footprint. How hypocritical is it for you to ask us to e-bike all winter when you take a flight for the summit where you are a mere side bar?
Our community makes efforts every day to show our children there is hope for the world by reducing emissions and your GHG offsets purchases do less to reduce our next fire season than they do to alleviate your conscience.
In my opinion, you just set a terrible example for our community. Claire Collyer,
