Trust in working together is critical to accomplishing many good things.

Municipalities are governed by the Municipal Government Act and other provincial legislation. Municipalities are so controlled that they find themselves at odds with other municipalities to get federal/provincial financial and political support needed for their communities.

Often, they are at odds in a rural versus urban context as well. They may be, at least on paper, discouraged from working proactively with First Nations to solve problems.

When local jurisdictions such as First Nations and municipalities work together, there is an opportunity to solve regional challenges. This is not about who gets what, but how.

By working together, there is a stronger voice and planning for the future is coordinated, and respectful. Financial, infrastructure, climate, environmental, social, and cultural challenges are better dealt with based on trust and finding solutions.
