LETTER: What he fails to understand is the road is available to everyone to walk, hike, run, cycle, scooter, skateboard, and even skate ski.

Further to Mark Bowes letter “Parks Canada shouldn’t favour one group above others on Bow Valley Parkway closure” in the June 27 edition of the Outlook, he continues to refer that Highway 1A was closed for vehicles.

He seems to believe the road closure is catering to one group of the public and being “stolen” from the rest of the population. What he fails to understand is the road is available to everyone to walk, hike, run, cycle, scooter, skateboard, and even skate ski.

If Mr. Bowes chooses to not utilize this safe opportunity for his own enjoyment, then it's himself who is restricting access.

I invite you, Mr. Bowes, to go out now and enjoy the road with all the cars. Further, based on his definition of “stealing”, then that would mean the closure of Banff Avenue has “stolen” my ability to drive or ride a public road. The elitists in this case are the pedestrians who walk willy-nilly all over the road making it unsafe to ride a bike.

I guess there is a place for everyone should you wish to enjoy them.

Ellen Brenner,

Banff
