House fire near Morley forces occupants to flee

MORLEY - A house fire west of Morley on Tuesday night (July 10) destroyed a home forcing its occupants to flee. Firefighters from Exshaw received a call for the fire around 10 p.m.

MORLEY - A house fire west of Morley on Tuesday night (July 10) destroyed a home forcing its occupants to flee.

Firefighters from Exshaw received a call for the fire around 10 p.m. and were initially told an infant was trapped inside the house, however when they arrived police and EMS were already on scene and everyone had been evacuated safely.

“The occupants were all accounted for by the time we got there,” said Rick Lyster, fire chief for Exshaw Fire Rescue.

He said two fire trucks and seven firefighters responded to the fire, which was on Spring Road just west of Morley.

Firefighters remained on scene until 1 a.m. and it is currently under investigation by the fire commissioner’s office.
