Public Hearing Notification

• Amendments to Direct Control Districts within Land Use Bylaw 2018-22 Public Hearing The public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 9 a.m. in person at the Canmore Civic Centre, 902 – 7 Ave. Members of the public may attend in person or watch the hearing online at canmore.ca/webcast. What is proposed to change? The proposed amendments to certain Direct Control (DC) Districts are intended to update the Town of Canmore’s Land Use Bylaw (LUB) 2018-22. The proposed amendments will improve the development process by designating the Development Officer (Administration) as the Development Authority, where Council or the Canmore Planning Commission are currently designated as the Development Authority for the identified DC Districts. The amendments will also incorporate recent updates made to certain sections of the Land Use Bylaw: Section 1.13 (Development Authority – Duties and Responsibilities) and Section 1.14 (Variance Powers of the Development Authority). The amendments also make allowance for the Development Authority’s decision on a development permit application to be appealed to the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board, subject to Section 1.19. How can I give feedback? Members of the public may make a presentation at the hearing in person at the Canmore Civic Centre or virtually using Zoom.
