Public Hearing Notification Bylaw 2024-05 – Political Campaign Signs The public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 9 a.m. in person at the Canmore Civic Centre, 902 – 7 Ave. Members of the public may attend in person or watch the hearing online at canmore.ca/webcast. What is proposed to change? This bylaw updates the Town of Canmore’s Land Use Bylaw 2018-22 to remove the Political Campaign Sign section and any associated references. This bylaw amendment would be followed by a recommendation from Administration to Council to adopt a standalone Political Campaign Sign Bylaw. The proposed changes intend to provide greater clarity to candidates about election signage. How can I give feedback? Members of the public may make a presentation at the hearing in person at the Canmore Civic Centre or virtually using Zoom. To register to speak at the hearing contact the municipal clerk at [email protected] before noon on Friday, June 28, 2024. Non-registered participants will be given an opportunity to speak at the hearing if they are present in the council chamber. Presentations are limited to five minutes. Written submissions are also welcome and are accepted whether or not a person attends the hearing. Submissions received by the municipal clerk at [email protected] before 9 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, will be distributed to Council and published on canmore.ca/agendas-minutes on the same day. Submissions received after the deadline but before the close of the hearing will be added to the record after the hearing adjourns. All emailed responses will be acknowledged by return email. Digital submissions are encouraged, but they can also be dropped off or mailed to 902 – 7 Ave., Canmore, AB T1W 3K1. Only one copy of a written submission is required. Meetings are livestreamed and recorded. All written submissions are published on our website so we recommend limiting the personal information provided. The first and last names of all those who provide submissions, verbal or written, are published in the meeting minutes along with the person’s general position on the matter - in favour, opposed, or neutral. By participating in a public hearing, you consent to the publication of your name and your opinion about the matter under consideration. How can I find out more? Information about the proposed amendments is available online at canmore.ca/bylaws-pending or at the Civic Centre, 902 7 Ave., from Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For further information please call 403.678.8943
