Clair J. Cote
July 20, 1934 to July 16, 2023

It is with great sorrow – but also with joy for
knowing him – that the family of Clair Joseph
Cote shares his passing on Sunday, July 16, 2023.
During his final days, Clair was surrounded
by his wife and family who adored him and had
his last “noisy Cote goodbye”.

Clair and the love of his life, Kay, spent 67 years
as “the together couple”, enjoying joyful years
of marriage in each other’s pockets, cooking
together, raising a family of four children, navigating his busy career as
a Calgary realtor, hiking, curling, reading, and running after grandkids
and great grandkids in their long retirement in Canmore.

Clair was a joker, a teaser, a constant cheerleader for his wife and family,
and a man who always had a ready laugh. He loved a party, to bust a
move on the dance floor, play drums (mostly jazz), could swing a golf
club admirably, loved travel (especially to Carmel, California), and was
a very decent skier and enthusiastic hiker. He was never happier than
when sitting on his deck in Canmore watching the sun set over the
Three Sisters and welcoming a bird, deer or squirrel. When Clair was
recently asked what he dreamed he could be, he answered, “I would be
just what I was”.

Clair is survived by his beloved wife Kay, four children, 10 grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren. The family celebrated Clair’s
remarkable life on July 27 in Calgary. We will miss him so
much and will hold him in our hearts. We know Clair
would ask you to hug your loved ones, dance,
play music and spread more joy in the world.
