Most actively traded companies on the Toronto Stock Exchange

TORONTO — Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (19,969.19, down 4.03 points.) 

Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Energy. Down four cents, or 0.10 per cent, to $40.62 on 10.8 million shares. 

Canadian Natural Resources (TSX:CNQ). Energy. Down 46 cents, or 0.61 per cent, to $74.57 on 10.3 million shares. 

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Materials. Down 21 cents, or 0.91 per cent, to $22.82 on 7.3 million shares. 

Athabasca Oil Corp. (TSX:ATH). Energy. Down 15 cents, or 6.15 per cent, to $2.29 on 6.4 million shares. 

Enbridge Inc. (TSX:ENB). Energy. Down 29 cents, or 0.54 per cent, to $53.31 on 5.8 million shares. 

Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Financials. Down 11 cents, or 0.46 per cent, to $24.06 on 5.4 million shares.

Companies in the news: 

TC Energy Corp. (TSX:TRP). Down six cents, or 0.10 per cent, to $57.99. Pipeline operator TC Energy Corp. said Wednesday evening that it had mobilized people and equipment in response to a confirmed release of oil into a creek in Washington County, Kan., about 32 kilometres south of Steele City, Neb. The system remained shut down Thursday morning, as crews respond and work to contain and recover the oil that was spilled. TC Energy has not indicated how much oil was spilled, or how long the pipeline system is expected to be down.

Telus Corp. (TSX:T). Down 38 cents, or 1.33 per cent, to $28.13. Canada's telecommunications regulator refused a request from Telus Corp. to charge some customers a credit card processing fee. While Telus didn't need the CRTC's approval to add the surcharge, the regulator said Thursday that it was concerned about its effects on affordability, consumer interest and "the most vulnerable consumers, who rely on credit cards to pay their everyday bills." Telus did not respond to a request for comment on the refusal.

Cineplex Inc. (TSX:CGX). Down one cent, or 0.10 per cent, to $9.74.  Cineplex Inc. has opened the first of its new theatre, dining and entertainment complexes called Junxion. The Toronto-based theatre operator's first location is at Kildonan Place, a Winnipeg mall that was home to a Famous Players cinema. The Junxion features six auditoriums with reclining seats, an arcade area with more than 50 games, a party room, live entertainment space and dining options. It comes three years after Cineplex announced the Junxion concept, promising the first location would open at the Erin Mills Town Centre mall in Mississauga, Ont., in 2020. The mall is still set to house a Junxion, but Cineplex now says it won't open until the summer of 2023 with further sites to follow.
