BANFF – After a successful pilot program of Music @ The Juniper, the live music series is returning to the Juniper Hotel’s Kiguli Ballroom for another four-week series.
“We received such an overwhelming enthusiastic and positive response from the Bow Valley community that we knew we had to bring it back,” said Lev Nesterov, artistic director of Peaks + Prairies Productions. “The weekly series will once again give a platform in Banff to world-class musicians to connect with audiences in a relaxed and intimate setting.”
The series begins on Nov. 19 with singer-songwriter Irene Poole, followed by performances the subsequent three Saturdays. All performances start at 7:30 p.m. Travis Luckert, Dongkyun An and The Redline Trio will play each subsequent Saturday.
“I feel lucky to be part of a really vibrant and supportive community of songwriters here in the Bow Valley," said Poole. "I am excited to share my songs in a concert space that allows for listening and storytelling in a way that only a few other venues offer locally.”
Nesterov said people wanting the pre-concert dinner option are encouraged to arrive by 5:30 p.m.
The Juniper presents a unique place for concerts as the capacity is 80 patrons, creating an intimate atmosphere for performances.
“There is a close connection with the artist that you wouldn’t necessarily have at other venues. It is important to give a platform for artists.” Nesterov said. “I am a really big believer in local musicians and providing a platform and connecting with audiences in an intimate setting.”
The show will also include the opportunity to meet the artist after the show.
Luckert can't wait for the performance.
"I’ve been living in the Bow Valley two years now and am blown away by how rich the artistic community is here. I feel like Canmore and Banff really punch above their weight when it comes to the arts and particularly live music,” said Luckert. “I’m always excited to be able to contribute to that community and share a side of the guitar that a lot of folks haven’t seen before.”
Tickets for the concerts are $30 per person, with an optional two course, pre-show dinner add-on at a ticket holder price of $50. Tickets are available to be purchased in advance at www.musicatthejuniper.ca.
