Every now and again you find your place. You know the one where you go to feel content, at home and generally pleased with life? For us, that place is the beautiful, sunny dining room at Canmore’s Chez François. Trimmed with gorgeous river rock, morning sun streaming in through massive windows which also frame a spectacular view.

For more than 30 years, Jean-François, Sylvie and the team have been offering a made-from-scratch taste of Quebec right here in the Bow Valley. From house-made merguez lamb sausage (which is delicious, by the way) to a great Rueben made with authentic Montreal smoked meat, Chez Françoisbrings its A game.

General Manager Gabriel Daneau says diners from all over Canada (and beyond) return again and again for François’ gifted approach to simple, traditional food with special attention to seasonings, sauces and flavour combinations. Whether you’re on the patio, in the dining room or picking up a snack on the run (ordered conveniently on social media!), you’ll be treated to something special.

We relished the opportunity to dive into Chez François’ breakfast menu and were not disappointed. The Fruity Waffles were not only gorgeous, they were also delicious with fresh fruit like strawberries, grapes, apples and melon piled high on a sweet, crispy waffle hearty enough to stand up to all of that fruit while maintaining its chewy goodness. Topped with banana and raspberry coulis, this dish is most Instagrammable.

You also can’t go wrong with the popular American combo, which brings together fluffy scrambled eggs, smoky bacon, juicy sausage, a pancake and what might be the best French toast we’ve ever had. Also, don’t miss the breakfast “Bene” poutine with smoked meat. It marries all of the best things about poutine and a smoked meat sandwich resulting in a flavour bomb you won’t soon forget.

While Chez François is famous for its all-day breakfast, the take-out program has become increasingly popular.. Hotel guests, visitors and locals alike can order online, pick up their lunch and head out to explore and enjoy their Bow Valley adventure.

Open 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Chez François’ dining room is family friendly. Order your curbside pick-up packed lunch online at restaurantchezfrancois.com. Visit them on Facebook or on Instagram at @chez.francois
