CANMORE – Going back and forth like a tennis match, the Canmore Eagles have once again tied the best-of-seven series against the Whitecourt Wolverines.
The Eagles won 5-4 in Game 4 on Wednesday (April 3) to put the series at 2-2 in the second round of the Alberta Junior Hockey League playoffs.
Canmore Eagles’s Owen Jones came hot out of the gate with a goal 46 seconds into the first period. Whitecourt followed it up with a goal of their own, but Jones answered back a little over a minute later. Ethan Look closed out the scoring in the first period to take a 3-1 lead.
Whitecourt took hold of the second period to tie the score with a pair of goals.
In the third period, Rhett Dekowny took charge with an unassisted goal 36 seconds in, which he followed up with another midway through the final frame. The Wolverines put one in the net with 14 seconds left on the clock, but it wasn’t enough to clinch the win.
Nearly 800 in Canmore again tonight for a dandy between the @canmoreeagles and @WolverinesJrA. Eagles averaging 750 fans per home playoff game in 2024. They’re assured at least one more game at Canmore Recreation Centre after tonight’s 5-4 win. #ajhl
