SOLDIER HOLLOW – Collin Cameron had a golden day, while the rest of Team Canada hauled in four medals at the Para Nordic Skiing World Cup final in Solider Hollow, Utah.
The classic cross-country sprints started off the competition on Wednesday (March 1), which saw sit-skier Cameron winning the quick 800-metre race at a time of 3:18.79.
Cameron finished nearly two seconds faster than silver medallist Taras Rad of Ukraine.
Canuck Derek Zaplotinsky finished third in the race, winning a first-ever world cup medal. Canadians Ethan Hess finished eighth and Leo Sammarelli was 17th.
In women’s sitting, Canadians Christina Picton won bronze, and Lyne-Marie Bilodeau was fifth. USA’s Kendall Gretsch and Germany’s Anja Wicker won gold and silver, respectively.
In women’s 1.2-km standing, Canada’s Brittany Hudak skied into silver and teammate Natalie Wilkie took bronze. Norway’s Vilde Nilsen took top spot in the race.
The Para Nordic Skiing World Cup continues Thursday (March 2) in Solider Hollow with the 5-km individual freestyle.
