Missing Calgary man believed to be hiking in K-Country found dead

Maxwell James Mayling, a Calgary man who was reported missing yesterday, has been found deceased. The cause of death is not believed to be suspicious, according to the RCMP.

KANANASKIS COUNTRY – A Calgary man reported missing was found deceased Sunday (April 9) by police and search and rescue in Kananaskis Country, with police deeming the death not suspicious.

RCMP said Sunday morning Maxwell James Mayling, a Calgary man who was reported missing Saturday (April 8), was believed to be hiking when he went missing.

The Calgary Police Service and Calgary Search and Rescue Association took part in locating the 50-year-old man, who was last seen in Calgary April 4.

Mayling's vehicle was located on Highway 40 near the park gate and parts of the road were closed during the search.

RCMP thanked the public for assisting with the investigation and extended their condolences to Maxwell’s family and friends.
